The Type 1 Foundation & Lou Dog
The Type1 Foundation is a Geelong based volunteer run, not-for-profit charity, with an aim to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes through education in schools, medical practices & the wider community. They provide support & connect families living with diabetes which is a chronic, life threatening disease.
The Type1 Foundation is a cause close to Lucy's (Nana Huchy Co-founder) heart. When her son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age 5 their whole world was turned upside down. Lucy understands the pressures that are placed on families living with T1D. So when she met Ange Liston-McCaughley (T1F Founder & CEO) who's daughter was diagnosed at age 9, she knew she could help in her own small way. Nana Huchy now donates Lou Dog, a cuddly comfort toy, which is included in the Type 1 Foundation care packs given to newly diagnosed children.
To date (March 2024) Nana Huchy has donated more than 2,000 Lou Dog to the Type1 Foundation.
If you would like to support the Type 1 Foundation please head to their website where you can purchase your own Lou Dog.
